 RTD focus of organization
cell biology and molecular genetics in pathologies involving head and neck region

 Description of RTD activities
Study of periodontal disease and its impact on general health, specifically the involvement of periodontitis in atherosclerosis development: PCR detection of periodontopathogen microorganisms in subgingival plaque and atheromas of patients undergoing vascular surgery for atherosclerosis.
Molecular genetics of head and neck tumours: mutation screening in oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes in pre-malignant and malignant lesions of the oral region. Study of various markers of malignant transformation by immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
Gene polymorphisms as risk factors for developing various diseases (mostly malignant, but also other diseases of stomatological interest, such as peridontal disease).
