 RTD focus of organization
The mission of Knowledge-based Information Systems (KIS) at Salzburg Research is to transfer know-how from research into useful applications.

 Description of RTD activities
Salzburg Research conducts applied research in the areas of information and communication technologies with a focus on creating and managing digital content. We presently employ 55 researchers across our application areas of knowledge and media management, mobility, education and media, eCulture, eTourism and networked systems.

 Experiences in international Programmes
List of recent projects:
1. Interactive Knowledge (IKS) is an integrated FP7 project whose target are the hundreds of SMEs in Europe providing technology platforms for content and knowledge management to thousands of end user organisations.
2. Kiwi (Knowledge in a Wiki) is a European research project (STREP, FP7) and sets out to combine the wiki method of collaborative content creation with the technologies of the Semantic Web to bring knowledge management to the next level.
3. ImportNet is an European FP6 research project and aims at providing an open-source environment and co-operative models for digital business ecosystems for SMEs for virtual organisations in the sector of mechatronic engineering.
4. LIVE is an Integrated Project attempting to radically improve on the linear approach to TV broadcasting of live sporting events by delivering digital technologies and content formats that enable viewers to shape their own personal and highly interactive viewing experience as they watch the broadcast.
