 RTD focus of organization The Institute has focused on researches of effective and sustainable management of Soil and Water Resources in western Turkey.
 Description of RTD activities The RTD activities are branched out in four main scientific departments. Those are; (1) Catchment management with hydrology, agro-meteorology and soil/water conservation; (2) Water Management with irrigation methods, efficiency and system performance, drainage, constructed wetlands for waste water treatment, crop water needs, water balance and ET, Drought management and monitoring, climate change effects on agriculture etc. (3) Soil Management with soil fertility, soil microbiology, land use, Organic farming, agro-ecological zonning, (4) Investment Management with agricultural machinary and equipments, and economics and database.
 Experiences in international Programmes The Institute (MSWRRI) has got some experinces in international research programmes and/or institutions such as: water management in basin context project with IWMI (1997-1999); Joint Research Project with Israeli meteorology services on effects of agrotechnology, climate, soils and socio-economics on crop yields in western Turkey (2001-2005); ClimagriMED project with Italian Agriculture ministry division (UCEA) and FAO to find out effects of climate on agriculture and agricultural water use for mediterranean region (2005); PLEIADeS project which supported by EU 6.FP to use the ICT on irrigation (as a subcontracting Institute)(2006-2009); and bilateral project with Greece University of Athens on desertification (2008-2010).
