RTD focus of organization Socio-economic sciences, IT, environment, languages
Description of RTD activities The main responsibility of the Research Office is to promote and support the research in all spheres through research projects which are funded by the University Research fund and other international funds. The ability to generate external funds to support research projects is a major criterion in allocating University funds.
Administrative support and assistance to the Faculty Research Directors is provided by the Research Office.
The quality of research projects is assessed first through submission of proposals according to a template based on formal Regulations which set out clearly the required criteria. There is then discussion of draft proposals in the Research Committee, followed by an iterative process of amendment, re-submission and approval, with regular monitoring of the successful proposals by the Research Office. Finally, researchers present their conclusions in a way which can readily be disseminated outside the University through conferences, publication of texts or the SEEU Review.
The publication of SEEU Review is also one of the activities of the Office. SEEU Review aims to provide an international forum for research, analysis, and debate from a broad range of fields, such as economics, law, public administration, education, language and linguistics, sociology and environmental health sciences. SEEU Review will accept the following types of articles for consideration: research, position papers, white papers, and reviews.
The publishing fund is also administered and managed by the Office for Research. Within the overall budget, each Faculty has a budget that is determined by the University Council together with a budget for cross-Faculty and University level publications.
Experiences in international Programmes - University is included in several international programmes both in US and Europe. Main projects where SEEU was involved were Tempus projects funded by European Commission.
